15.6.2011:
Independent from each other, both ETSI TC ITS WG2 and ISO TC204 WG16 started work on LTE.
As it is well-known in the meanwhile, that ETSI ITS-G5 does not have the full channel capcity to run the desired ITS applications, it is extremly necessary - not only beneficial - to follow the CALM concept with multiple access technologies, and to use LTE also for CAM and DENM, where applicable, in addition to CALM M5 (ISO 21215) and CALM IR (ISO 21214).
In this context it should be further discussed whether the current approaches for CAM should not be revised completely and merged into one global common approach, where this "Beacon Message" (CAM) is treated the same way as any other DENM. CAM in the original definition (with all existing dialects of it), bears the very potential risk to flood any kind of network.
